This Is Not a Government Office or Records Custodian. Rutherford County Residents Directory is a private reference. We cannot obtain or certify a record, confirm a person at an address, or edit a government roll or database. Send those requests to the office that holds the record. For an emergency, call 911. If stalking or harassment is a concern, contact local law enforcement.

Finding the Right Record

Use the subject of the request to select the Rutherford County route:

  • Parcel or street evidence: use the Rutherford County Street Directory and then contact the Assessor or Register of Deeds as appropriate.
  • Historic directory volumes and dated household research: use the Directory Book, Rutherford County Archives, or the Historical Research Center.
  • One named person or a court-related record: begin with the Resident Lookup route and the correct court or records custodian.
  • Office contacts and record types: see the Rutherford County records-office material on the home page.
  • Records not online: direct a narrow request to the custodian under the Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §§ 10-7-501 et seq.

County Clerk public-record office: Rutherford County Clerk, 319 North Maple Street, Suite 121, Murfreesboro, TN 37130. Telephone: 615-898-7800. Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Clerk handles the services listed on its official page, including marriage licenses, business licenses, notary commissions, passports, county commission minutes, Beer Board records, and listed probate-related functions.

For a recorded deed or chain of title, contact the Register of Deeds rather than the Clerk. For assessment or parcel questions, use the Assessor. For historic county material, call, email, or visit Rutherford County Archives. A request should name the existing record, date range, subject, and the office believed to hold it. The county’s public-record request route uses the local policy and form; it does not require a custodian to compile a new resident list.
